Eligibility Criteria RRB Recruitment 2026
Candidates applying for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) must have any one of the following qualifications:
• Matriculation / SSLC pass
• ITI certificate from NCVT/SCVT recognized institute in trades such as:
• Fitter
• Electrician
• Instrument Mechanic
• Mechanic Radio & TV
• Electronics Mechanic
• Wireman
• Diesel Mechanic
• Heat Engine
• Turner
• Machinist
• Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic
• And other related trades
OR
• Matriculation / SSLC pass
• Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the above trades
OR
3 Years Diploma in:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Electronics Engineering
• Automobile Engineering
OR
• Combination of various streams of these engineering disciplines from a recognized institution.
Important Note: Candidates having an Engineering Degree in the above disciplines are also eligible and can apply in place of Diploma qualification.

Selection Process for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026
The selection process for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) under RRB Recruitment 2026 will be conducted in multiple stages. Candidates must qualify each stage to move to the next round.
Stage 1: First Stage CBT (CBT-1)
CBT-1 is a screening test conducted for shortlisting candidates for CBT-2.

• Minimum qualifying marks in Part-B: 35% for all categories
( Note: Only marks obtained in Part-A will be considered for shortlisting to the next stage.)
Stage 3: Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT):
Candidates equal to 8 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for CBAT based on CBT-2 Part-A marks.
Important Features of CBAT:
• No negative marking
• Candidates must qualify each test battery separately
• Minimum T-score required: 42 marks in each test battery
Stage 4: Document Verification (DV):
Candidates qualifying CBAT will be called for Document Verification.
The final merit list will be prepared based on:
• CBT-2 Part-A Marks → 50% weightage
• CBAT Score → 50% weightage
Candidates must produce original documents during DV.
Stage 5: Medical Examination
Finally, shortlisted candidates must pass the Railway Medical Fitness Test under the prescribed A-1 medical standard. Candidates found medically unfit will not be considered for appointment.
