Border Security Force (BSF) has invited online applications from meritorious sportspersons (Male & Female) for recruitment to the post of Constable (GD) under the Sports Quota 2025. The recruitment is open for 391 vacancies across multiple sports disciplines.Candidates will be appointed on a temporary basis, likely to be made permanent later, and will be governed by the BSF Act & Rules.

BSF Sports Recruitment 2025- Eligibility Criteria


Educational Qualification:


10th Pass (Matriculation) from a recognized board.


Sports Qualification

Eligibility Period: Only those sports achievements which have been acquired during the period from 04 November 2023 to 04 November 2025 (both dates inclusive) will be considered.


1. Individual Event (International/National)

The sportsman who has participated or won medal(s) in any International Sports events recognized by the International Olympic Association as a member of the Indian Team during the last two years from the closing date of the advertisement,

OR

Players who have won medal(s) in any National Games / Championship / National Open Championship recognized by the Indian Olympic Association, Sports Federation (of concerned sports) in Junior National Level Championship / Championship held between 04/11/2023 to 04/11/2025, will be considered.



2. Team Event (International/National)

In the team event, sportspersons who have won any medal in National Games / National Championship (both Junior and Senior) or any recognized sports meet of the respective Federation / Association recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports or conducted by the Indian Olympic Association during the period from 04/11/2023 to 04/11/2025 while representing their State / UT / Sports Control Board, are eligible.


However, the sportsperson should be a playing member of the team.

This condition does not apply to medals won in International tournaments.


Note:

Candidates must ensure that their achievements are within the above eligibility period and recognized by the concerned National / International Sports Federation or the Indian Olympic Association.



Age Limit 

(as on 1 Aug 2025):

Minimum: 18 years

Maximum: 23 years


Age Relaxation:

SC/ST: 5 years

OBC (NCL): 3 years


Departmental Candidates: up to 5 years extra (as per rules)


 Physical Standards

(a) Height:

Male: 170 cms

Female: 157 cms


Few categories of candidates are allowed relaxation in height. Relaxed standards are as follows:

Note: Chest measurements for female candidates will not be taken. However, the chest must be well-developed as per medical standards.

Weight should be proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.

Remarks - In right-handed person, right eye is better eye and vice versa.
- Binocular vision required.


(b) Colour Blindness:

A colour-blind person is not eligible for recruitment. If found colour blind at any stage of service, he/she will be discharged as per SHAPE policy.


(c) General Health Conditions:


Must not have knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins, or squint eyes.


Should be in good mental and bodily health, free from any physical defect that may interfere with efficient performance of duties.


(d) Tattoo Policy:


Tattoos showing religious or national sentiments are permitted as per Army standards.


Tattoos are allowed only on the inner aspect of the forearm, not on the outer or dorsum (back) of the hand.


Tattoo size must be less than 1/4th of the particular body part (like elbow or hand).


Summary:

Candidates must fulfill the required height, chest, weight, eyesight, and health standards to qualify for BSF recruitment. Medical examination will follow the revised guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Sports Marks Details and Selection Criteria


Only those players who have participated or won medals in recognized International or National level competitions held between 04 November 2023 and 04 November 2025 are eligible to apply. Players must have represented India or their State/UT/Sports Control Board in events recognized by the Indian Olympic Association or respective Sports Federations.


1. Individual Event:

Candidates who have represented India or won medals in individual sports (like Athletics, Shooting, etc.) during the above period are eligible.


2. Team Event:

Players who have represented their team in National or International tournaments and won medals during the same period are also eligible.

(They must be playing members of the team. This condition does not apply for medals won in International tournaments.)

Marks are awarded for the highest medal/achievement secured by a candidate during the eligibility period. Participation marks are considered only where indicated. Ensure you upload valid certificates from recognized federations.


Order of Preference


1. First Preference:

Candidates who have represented India and won medals (Gold/Silver/Bronze) in International competitions (Senior, Junior, or Youth categories) with clearance from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.


2. Second Preference:

Candidates who have represented and won medals or positions up to 3rd place in National Games / National Championship / National Open Championship / Youth or Junior National Championship, recognized by the Indian Olympic Association or National Sports Federation.

Fill out the online form carefully with all required details.


Upload the required documents, certificates, and latest passport-size photograph.


Verify all details before submitting — application once submitted cannot be modified.


Submit the application online only.


No offline applications will be accepted.


Upload of Certificates:

Candidates must upload scanned copies of their sports certificates in support of their highest medal or position as per the notification. Certificates must be uploaded in the candidate’s profile created on the BSF website before applying for the post.


 Application Fee & Mode of Payment


General (UR) / OBC (Male) Candidates: ₹159/- (Rupees One Hundred Fifty-Nine only)


Female / SC / ST Candidates: No Fee (Exempted)


Mode of Payment:

Application fees are to be paid online only through the BSF recruitment portal.


Note:

Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.


Any application received with a payment method other than online will be rejected summarily.


No TA/DA


No TA/DA or any other expenses for appearing in the recruitment test will be paid. Candidates must arrange their own accommodation and travel.


 Selection Process


The BSF Sports Quota selection process consists of the following stages:


Documentation


All candidates must undergo verification of documents and identity (including biometric verification).


Original certificates of age, education, sports achievements, caste, and relaxation claims must be produced at the time of verification.


Candidates unable to produce the prescribed certificates will be disqualified.


Physical Standard Test (PST)


Candidates qualified in documentation will undergo PST as per height and chest standards.


Relaxation candidates must submit the proper certificate from the competent authority.


Female candidates must submit a pregnancy declaration form. Pregnant candidates will be temporarily unfit and examined later.


Merit List Preparation


Merit List will be prepared based on the marks obtained as per the Sports Marks Table.


In case of a tie:


Candidate with higher marks will rank higher.


If marks are same, candidate with higher international achievement will rank higher.


If still tied, younger candidate will get preference.


If still unresolved, alphabetical order in English will be used.


Detailed Medical Examination (DME)


Candidates shortlisted as per merit will undergo a detailed medical examination to assess physical and medical fitness.


The examination will be conducted as per MHA medical guidelines.

Detailed Medical Examination (DME)


Candidates who are selected in order of merit, as per the number of vacancies, will have to appear for the Detailed Medical Examination (DME).


The medical test will assess the candidate’s physical and medical fitness as per the latest guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).


Only medically “Fit” candidates will be considered for final selection.


 Appeal Procedure (RME) – Re-Medical Examination


If a candidate is declared unfit in the Detailed Medical Examination (DME), he/she may submit an appeal for Re-Medical Examination (RME) under the following conditions:


The candidate must submit an appeal along with a Medical Fitness Certificate (as per Annexure-VI) from a government medical practitioner within 24 hours of receiving the rejection slip.


A Medical Re-Examination Fee of ₹25/- must be paid through an Indian Postal Order in the name of the Recruiting Agency.


The appeal will not be accepted if submitted after 24 hours or without the required documents.


The decision of the BSF Medical Board will be final for declaring a candidate Fit or Unfit in RME.


There will be no second appeal for candidates declared unfit in RME.


General Instructions


Candidates must not involve in any misconduct or malpractice during recruitment.


Misbehaving, using force, or intimidating officials.


Submitting fake or forged certificates.


Carrying weapons, or impersonating another candidate.


Trying to hack or manipulate recruitment data.


Candidates must bring a printed copy of the online application form and photo ID proof at the time of document verification.


Keep enough passport-size photos (same as uploaded online) for all recruitment stages.


Candidates working in government services must bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.


Original documents will be verified at the time of documentation — candidates must ensure correctness and completeness.

Candidates must use a valid email ID and mobile number during registration.


Candidates must serve the BSF for a minimum period of 10 years after appointment. If any candidate resigns before that, he/she must refund the training cost or 3 months’ pay (whichever is higher).


Selected candidates will undergo Basic Training and other prescribed courses.


Vacancies are not open for ex-servicemen or physically challenged candidates.


No TA/DA will be provided for appearing in the recruitment process.


BSF will not be responsible for any injury, delay, or internet issues during the process.


Recruitment in BSF is completely transparent and free of cost.


Do not pay any money to anyone for recruitment.


If anyone demands money or favors, report immediately to BSF officials or local police.


Candidates found guilty of fake documents, canvassing, or influence will be disqualified and legal action may be taken.


Qualifying all stages of the test does not guarantee selection. Final merit will depend on performance and available vacancies.


The performance of sportspersons will be reviewed every year. If performance is below the required level, the candidate may be shifted to GD cadre or discharged from service.


All legal matters related to the recruitment will be under the jurisdiction of Delhi courts only.
